Meet Emily Hane
Kansan by birth. Dotte by choice.
My great-great grandparents moved to Kansas right after the civil war to continue their abolitionist work. Five generations later, most of my family tree is still here. I moved to Wyandotte County right after serving my country as a Peace Corps Volunteer overseas. This choice was intentional because I value the diversity and affordability of this community.
My first time as a Dotte, I lived in multiple apartment complexes all through House District 31. Then when it was time to lay down my permanent roots, I was very fortunate to find an affordable house in Rosedale in 2020. I respect the history and traditions of my community, and I want to make sure everyone who wants to lay down roots here has affordable options.
My entire career has been in the public sector, working to increase access to education and access to safe water at various nonprofit organizations. As a volunteer, I help to advocate for affordable housing and tenant rights in my community. I know how to build coalitions to get things done, and how to stay focused on meaningful work in a time when there is too much noise.
As a nonprofit professional, I am responsive, collaborative, and solutions-focused. I will bring this same energy and effort into serving House District 31.
